Joseph Mayeaux is the author of Nobody Assigned You This. He spent twenty years in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and section chief before transitioning into a second career in commercial aviation operations, leading teams through complex, high-stakes programs in a highly regulated industry. Across both careers, he kept running into the same problem: the people actually holding teams together were rarely the ones with the title to match.

That observation became Nobody Assigned You This: How to Lead When the Authority Isn't Yours, his first book. Written for anyone leading from the middle, in the military, in a factory, in an office, without formal rank to back it up.

Joe holds an MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. He lives in Washington State.
